Backstory

Would you like to direct your own rainforest adventure in a jungle theatre with animal finger puppets? In this craft project, we show you how to make a jungle theatre and really cool finger puppets using a shoe box and cardboard. Make up a fun story about tigers, pandas and co. and act it out with your friends.  You can let your imagination run wild with your homemade jungle theatre and cute finger puppets.

Steps:

Step 1

First cut out the craft templates for the animal finger puppets along the solid lines.

Step 2

Fold them along the dotted lines and apply a generous amount of Pritt craft glue on the tabs. Fold the "lid" down and stick it on the sides. Then glue everything together using the large tab so that you have a closed body that you can place onto your finger.

Step 3

What is missing? The head of course! Apply a generous amount of glue on it from the bottom to about half way up and stick it on the front of the body.

Step 4

Now it's time for the jungle theatre, but you'll need a little help from your parents. Place the shoe box on the floor with the bottom facing up and the narrow side towards you. Draw a square in the top half of the box and leave an edge of about three centimetres at the top and to the left and right. Carefully cut out the square.

Step 5

Then decorate the outside of the shoe box. First cut out the templates of the flowers and the other plants. Apply a generous amount of green glue all over the box and stick the cut out templates to it however you like to give it a true jungle look. If you like you can also write something on the box. What about "My Wild Jungle Theatre"?

Step 6

Take some long pieces of pipe cleaner to use as vines for your animal finger puppets. Simply stick them to the top back wall of your stage. You can bend or curl them a little as well.

Step 7

Put the finger puppets on your fingers, think up a story and act it out in your fantastic jungle theatre!

And that's it!

Tipps & Tricks

The Pritt Green Stick is perfect for your jungle puppet theatre because you can see exactly where you have already put glue. Make sure you don't leave any white spots! And if you can still see some afterwards, it makes your jungle even more realistic – after all, the jungle is green anyway, right? ;)
